Shannon’s #MenOnNaturalHair Response

I can’t say that I have that many experiences when it comes to men and their reaction to my hair. I have been in a long term relationship since a teen and my partner has always loved my curly hair, however I can think of two things that seem to irk him and I can imagine that many other men have these issues too.

1) The Satin Bonnet

It is funny that The London Curls is doing this project as I recently saw online that Kandi Burress  (Real Housewives of ATL) had this problem with her husband too. My partner hates when I fling it on I get called names which we joke about. However from popular memes like…

Us naturals feel we cannot live without it but for some men it can be a huge issue!

2) Short Hair/Big Chop

There was a time when I did consider getting a big chop just so I could start fresh with my hairs health. I had mentioned it a few times when contemplating whether too and I wasn’t met with much encouragement lol! It seems that most men are instilled with a women having long flowing hair which you can argue comes from Disney Princesses, Barbie Dolls and so on..

However I feel men in general are much more accepting and respectful when women have natural hair. When I have had my hair straight in the past I feel like I was looked at differently and they expected me  to act a certain way.

At the end of the day it is just hair and I would never suggest making major changes to your appearence for any man, your body is your body and if it is something you really want to do then do it! When in a relationship you can have the conversation before major changes but never hold back your true desires just to please your other half!
